There are just two basic and simple keys to success in life. These two keys joined together become the perfect combination for your success.
Darrell Royal is a member of the college football hall of fame. One of the nuggets of wisdom he has been heard to say is:
The only place you can win a football game is in on the field. The only place you can lose it is in your heart. Darrell Royal
This wisdom nugget can certainly be applied to any area of life, not just to football. Here is how I rephrased this quote to apply it to my life:
This reveals the perfect combination to success in yours and my life.
What is this combination?
- Believe in your heart you can win (mindset).
- Act on your belief. Go onto the playing field and win!
Many folk are becoming aware of the role that mindset plays in our success in life. Yet too many of these people are leaving out the other equally important key to success.
What is this second key? Yes, it is action.
If you don’t go out on the playing field and play the game, you can never win in football (or any other game for that matter).
Of course, at the same time, if you go out onto the playing field believing and feeling that your opposing team is too good for you and you can’t possibly win over them, guess what? You are almost guaranteed to lose.
If you go out onto the playing field of your life believing and feeling that you have too many odds against you and you can’t possibly win over them, guess what? You are almost guaranteed to lose.
John Wooden, the legendary basketball coach (who died today at the age of 99 years), is quoted as saying:
You need to take action in order to succeed. But how you take this action is equally important. The action must be accompanied by your belief.
So again, here are the two simple keys that when combined give you a powerful combination to lead you to success in every area of your life.
- Believe you can do it
- Go out and do it.
Do you have this combination working in your life today?
