16 Jul 2010 My Words Are Driving My Faith

Yes I DO believe we can winThis is a quote from Day 12 of John Di Lemme’s 210 affirmation challenge.

It is not too late to start this challenge today, and I highly recommend it.

Actually the correct quote is:

I am driving my faith by my words now.

I am on Day 16 of this challenge, but you can start today.

There is no deadline to begin your 210 days. You would simply finish 209 days from today. So you have not missed out. Start today, in fact right NOW!

Are Affirmations Enough?

One thing that is striking me as I follow this challenge and it provokes a question:
Is simply affirming (repeating, declaring) something enough to change your life?

The answer is: No.

Positive words plus ACTION will change your life.

So when I declare: I am driving my faith by my words now, I am telling my brain to speak ONLY words that will build my faith.

This means that during the rest of the day I will be alert to speak faith words and avoid every conversation and comment that could be detrimental to my faith.

So what then is an affirmation? King David made many strong affirmations in the Bible. One of the outstanding ones is found in Psalm 103:2

“Bless the Lord oh my soul, and forget not all of His benefits”.

David made this affirmation in a time of great stress in his life (and if you remember David had a lot of those times in his lifetime). This was much more than an affirmation, it was a command to himself.

He was commanding his brain: You are going to bless the Lord whether you feel like it or not.

This is what an affirmation really is. So when I say: “I am driving my faith by my words now” I am telling my brain to send me positive instructions to put into action today! Instructions that will lead me to fulfill my why!

30 Jun 2010 What Do You Have To Complain About?

Complaining CatThis morning the book I took on the bus to read was a book of wisdom notes by Dr Mike Murdock. One of the notes that stood out to me was the following:

Never complain about what you permit.

What a powerful rebuke no? How many times do you and I permit a situation and then when it actually happens we get upset.

But you might be asking, in what ways do I actually permit a situation?

There are three main ways you permit a situation to happen (that could have been prevented):

  1. Deliberately ignore the signs of something growing simply because you really don’t want to deal with it. This is the delusion of “if I ignore it, it will go away”.
  2. Lose your focus because of distractions. You did not even see it coming because you were too distracted.
  3. li>Talk yourself into it (or think yourself into it). Negative words thought and/or spoken can get you and I into more trouble than we realize.

Prevention is always better than cure right?

The solution is:

So many situations in our lives can be prevented. How?

  • Take courage to confront a small situation before it becomes a big one.
  • Stay alert to what is happening around you. So many things (especially accidents) happen in our lives in a split second of distraction.
  • Make sure that you are speaking and thinking positive words every day.

Don’t waste time complaining about what you permitted.

  • Learn from it.
  • Focus on the solution and the recovery plan.
  • Fill your mind with positive words, motivational and problem solving solutions (which you will find when you read good non fiction books every day).
  • Follow your recovery plan.
This is the way to turn weaknesses into strengths and
obstacles into opportunities.

JillWhen you and I accept the responsibility for our mistakes, learn from them and determine to recover from them life can only get better – and it does!
