28 Aug 2010 Two Top Causes Of Stress
 |  Topic: Choices  | Tags: , , , , , , ,  | One Comment

Stressed manI am sure that you are all too familiar with this emotional state that is called stress.

Yet what if I could give you a definition of stress that might just change your understanding completely?

Before I do, let me warn you: you may not like this! But after REALLY thinking about it, I am sure you will come to the conclusion that there is a HUGE amount of truth in this statement.

Stress is the result of knowing what to do and not doing it Larry Winget.
(From his book: Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life).

Sound reasonable?

Well let’s think about it for a moment.
When you know what to do, but because of fear of the opinions of others, fear of the unknown and any other fear you don’t do it, what happens? You have caused a division in your being.

One part of you KNOWS what to do, the other part of you does not do it because of public pressure, fear of man, laziness, fear of finances etc. You are divided. Of course that will cause stress right?

So a stressed out mind is a divided mind!

Here is another thought:
Stress is also often caused by trying to control another person (especially one who won’t be controlled). It can even be because of trying to control a circumstance that is out of your hands. Of course worrying about it is not going to change it right?

Have you ever tried to push or pull an object (like an old fashion piece of solid furniture) that is so heavy it won’t even move?

How did you feel? Your body felt strained and stressed right?

The same thing happens in your emotions when you try to control a person or a circumstance that just won’t move.

So here we have two key words that describe attitudes that I am convinced cause a high percentage of the stress that is in this world today.

What are two of the top causes of stress?

In two simple words: disobedience and control.

Disobedience – ouch! Well if you know what to do and don’t do it, what is that called?

Control – yes all too many folk spend their lives trying to control everything and everyone around them. The cause of this? Insecurity.

So what is the solution to these two causes?
Disobedience - now what would the solution be to that one? Obey right? Just do what you know to do. Don’t allow yourself to be divided. It is your choice AND your responsibility to follow your own conscience – not someone else’s!

Control - the solution? Release! Let those around you live their lives and this will give YOU more time and space to live yours. Sound reasonable? Of course.

Can you control circumstances? Not all of them. Where a circumstance is the result of YOUR choices, yes of course you may be able to change that one.

If it has gone too far, you have learned a lesson and are in a good position to prevent future occurrences right? How?

By your words and your actions.

Remember:
Words (positive words thought and talked)
plus ACTION (that is in agreement with your positive words)
= Success

Live free of stress:
Conquer fear (that stops you from doing what you know to do).
Release others to live their lives, while you live yours.

JillMay you choose to live a stress free life today!

This makes me sick

P.S. I am sure you would enjoy reading some of Larry’s writing as much as I am, so here is one of his ebooks. Take a look right now.

03 Jun 2010 Conquering Is Simply A Decision
 |  Topic: Decisions, Obstacles  | Tags: , , , , , ,  | One Comment

Decisions in the shopping mallCould it be that triumphing over difficult situations is as simple as making a decision? Conquering is simply a decision sounds a little too simple no?

Not when your decision is real enough to be followed by action! You will act to every challenge in life in one of two ways depending on how you DECIDE to act.

In the last article we considered two opposing reactions to life’s challenges and difficulties. What were those two reactions?

1. Coping (or adjusting).
2. Conquering (or overcoming).

These are two OPPOSITE reactions (one is negative, and the other is positive), yet they have ONE THING in common.

What is the one thing these two reactions have in common?

They both are the result of a decision.

When you face a challenging situation:

  • You decide to conquer it and consequently you are willing to pay the price of the battle.
Result: You will travel the path of faith, victory and stronger faith! — or
  • You decide to accept it, adjust to it and put up with it.
Result: You will travel the path of doubt, fear and defeat.

John Di Lemme is often heard saying:

Your daily decisions predict your future!
  • It is never the things that happen to you that change your life – it is what you do with the these things that will change your life. You decide how you deal with life’s situations.
  • It is never someone else’s fault that you don’t reach your dreams – it is your fault if you listen to that person and believe their negative comments. You decide who you listen to and believe.
  • It is never because of your past that you may not achieve your dreams, it is because of the decisions you make EACH DAY which are creating the path for your future.

Let’s sum up what we are learning today:

Are you coping with a situation or in the process of conquering it? The decision is yours.
