21 Jul 2010 What Does TODAY Mean To You?

Sunrise over Haughley SuffolkEvery morning you wake up to a new day.

What does that mean to you?

What is the first thing that you do when you wake up?

Yesterday I was listening to a teleconference and heard John Di Lemme make this statement:

What you do with the first two hours of your day sets the pace for the day.

Each day offers a new beginning, an opportunity to discover new things, and to see God work new miracles in your life.

BUT there is a catch!
What is this catch? Every day is like a present.

  • You need to open a present in order to discover what it is. You need to open up each day to discover what new things are waiting for you to learn and experience.
  • You need to be alert and expect to see the miracles that God has for you. God works with FAITH (positive expectancy).

How many times I hear people around me use this phrase when asked how they are: “Same old”. Where is the expectancy and faith in that comment?

Well actually it is a negative focus that is directed at expecting nothing new. So what do these folk get? Nothing new! Are they alert to discover, learn and experience new things? No!

So how can you make sure that you receive everything that each new day is offering you?

Here is a plan that would change your life:

  1. Wake up to read you WHY. Do you have your WHY written down? Your why is the reason you are on this earth. It involves making a difference in this world in the area of your passion and calling.
  2. Spend the first minutes of your day declaring affirmations that are in line with your WHY and your dreams.
  3. Pick up your Bible and read a chapter from the book of Proverbs, Psalms or the Gospels. If you are following a plan to read the Bible in a year, then continue with this plan.

Stop and think about what you are reading. Write down a key thought that stands out to you.

  4. Now that your mind will be more focused and alert, take a look at the plan your created the evening before. What are the most important items? (They will be on the top of your list).

Start working on number 1 on your list as soon as breakfast is over.

  5. If you are following a workout program, insert this in the order of your routine. If you are not, at least take a walk after breakfast. There is nothing like physical exercise to clear your mind and get the brain focus and ready for action.

What would happen to your life if you followed a plan similar to this every day for 30 days? I am sure you would discover some transformations!

What if you have to start out early in the morning for work? I sometimes do. Those days I take out my cell phone while I am waiting on the bus at 4.30am in the morning, surf over to 210 Affirmations to Guarantee 2010 to be your greatest year ever.

Then I spend those waiting moments making the affirmations mine by declaring them out loud. This definitely makes a difference to my day.

JillHow are you spending the first two hours of each day? Do you EXPECT to discover or learn something new and to see miracles EVERY day?

22 Feb 2010 The Secret To Recovering From A Slip Up
 |  Topic: Focus  | Tags: , , , , , , ,  | Leave a Comment

VANCOUVER, BC - FEBRUARY 20: Apolo Anton Ohno...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

Apolo Ohno was set to win the 1000-meter short-track speed skating race on Saturday yet close to the end he was almost knocked out by a slip up.

In Apolo’s own words I had to crank it up, but I regrouped and won the bronze. It means a lot to me – I live my life with the philosophy that anything is possible.

The key word that stands out to me in his statement is “regrouped”.

While so many folk would have given up in the same situation, Apolo regrouped, got back up on his feet and went on to win the Bronze.

Was he disappointed that he won the Bronze and not the Gold? No! He was pleased that he had put his heart and soul into his skating and had achieved success. He won a medal!

How could Apolo have recovered so quickly?

One word – focus!

This young 19 year old is laser focused on his game. Another article I read talks about his daily training program and the influence his father (Yuki Ohno) has had on his life.

Yuki says concerning his son:
His view is clear and focused. It is so loud, I’m afraid. It is like having a dominant focused lion sitting next to me.

How can you and I be so focused?
Know where you are going. A clear vision will keep you on track.

I remember visiting the Bible College in Tauranga NZ where I studied before leaving NZ. There I met up with one of my companions who was in my class.

He told me: We have often said, you were the only one who knew what she wanted to do and went out and did it.

That really is a sad comment. There were 20 of us in that class!

Yes, I did “go out and do what was on my heart” back then, and reached a great measure of success.

Then came the setbacks – not just one – that would have been easy to jump over. I had already overcome many obstacles, but this was an avalanche and it hit hard.

The most difficult were the losses of loved ones, of leaders, costly setbacks, a serious accident – and lastly my vision. But I am still alive!

All of these setbacks have taken time to recover from. So many times I felt like I was chipping out of being trapped in a mine with only my bare hands for a shovel. (Figuratively speaking).

BUT one thing I know – the commitment I made as a teenager gave God permission to never let me stray too far!

New Dreams – New Focus
Today I have a new set of dreams which means a new focus and new people coming into my life. (I will reveal more about this soon).

As I step into this new chapter of my life, I am inspired by young champions like Apolo Ohno who’s focus enabled him to recover from a fall and still go on to win.

Daily immersion of listening to and reading the Bible, listening to and reading motivational and inspiration material is clarifying my vision and empowering me to focus on my dreams.

JillWhat you focus on you WILL achieve.

Are you focused on your dreams?
