Failure is a normal part of the road to success.
Someone said: “He who makes no mistakes does nothing.”
This is so true. To reach your success goals whatever they may be, you need to take action.
However the action you choose to take may not always be the correct one. But that’s ok. It is always much easier for God to guide you to the right place when you are moving, than it is if you are simply sitting with your arms folded “waiting”.
One of the greatest hindrances to reaching success in any area of your life is fear, and one of the things that is often feared is failure. Remember fear will paralyze you. So if you let fear take over, you will end up doing nothing right?
There are at least three BENEFITS of failure as you journey towards your purpose in life and your success goals.
1. Failure always offers an opportunity to learn.
I believe it was Jim Rohn who said:
but self-education will make you a fortune.
Self education is ongoing. It often involves the method of learning by trial and error. Of course this is just one part of your self-education. Your learning program also includes your daily program of reading and listening to good instructional material, as well as being alert to every learning opportunity – right?
Every time you and I fail in something, we learn a valuable lesson. We learn what does not work. Remember Edison? How many times did he fail before he finally reached success? It was not just 10 or 20 times was it?
2. Failure offers an opportunity to exercise creativity.
Sometimes when something does not go right (or we just plain make a mistake) we are left with a great opportunity to exercise creativity (to rectify the situation or to get out of the hole we just fell into).
This is always a good thing. Every time you and I exercise a muscle, a talent or an ability – what happens? Of course, it gets stronger.
So here is a great opportunity to develop your creativity. Now it is time to find a way to recover from the error and continue to seek what WILL work. This may take some more experimenting or perhaps more research (or a little of both), as well as a whole lot of creativity. You can do it!
Whatever it takes – persist! Never give up and you WILL find what works. Again, remember the example Edison left us.
3. Failure may sometimes give you an opportunity to confront a weakness in your life.
Sometimes you may fail because of a personal weakness (for example procrastination, not listening to a warning, not reading the instructions etc).
This is a great time to confront this weakness and make a decision to eliminate it from your life. Because you are bold enough to face your weakness and conquer it, the failure quickly becomes an opportunity to improve your life right?
- Are you ready to turn all failure into an opportunity?
- Are you ready to eliminate any fear of failure from your life today?
Let’s take this learning process and turn it into a fortune!
