Stressed LadylIn the last post we looked at two top causes of stress in our lives today.

Remember they are:
Disobedience (to your own heart) and -
Control (you can’t control anything in life but your own mind).

Now let’s tackle the BIGGEST cause of stress in our lives today! What is it?

Fear! Yes fear is a HUGE cause of stress.

Fear is actually the root cause of ALL other causes of stress. Fear is behind them all.

Yes, that is right, FEAR is behind them all.

Did you know that faith and fear have a common denominator. What is it?

Both fear and faith are developed by words – thought, spoken and believed!

How can you tell when fear is present in your life?
One good way is to note your first SPONTANEOUS reaction to a challenge and the thoughts that go with it.

  • Did you gasp and think or say: How am I going to cope with this?
  • Did you lose your breath for a second and then find a host of “what if thoughts” flooding your mind?

Those are certainly reactions of fear.

So how can you change those reactions?
Well first you need to face the fact that the fear habit did not grow to this magnitude overnight, and it is likely it will not disappear overnight.

Fear is a developed and learned habit.

Faith is also a developed and learned habit.

Faith will displace fear!

Here’s how you can cultivate faith:

  • Take note of the words you listen to (and only listen to positive faith building words).
  • Take note of the words you are speaking and stop speaking negative words. Make an dedicated effort to speak only positive words no matter what the situation.

This will take discipline, determination and development to achieve completely. Remember habits are developed!

  • Stop associating with negative people.
  • Stop watching negative and violent programs on TV.
  • Read, listen to and watch strong faith building books, articles and messages.

These things will certainly put you on the road to developing faith habits and fear will have to flee.

JillOnce fear is gone, you will find that your life will have a LOT less stress.

29 Jun 2010 Fear Is A Developed Habit

Little Girl AfraidLast night I was listening to a conference call with John Di Lemme entitled *17* Motivational Tips to DEFEND against the Brutal Onslaught of Fear!

One of the 17 tips that most stood out to me was:

Fear is a developed habit.

I was studying a book about Accelerated Education when I visited my sister last year, and there I came across an interesting statistic. It was reported that Jack Canfield once sent a team of researchers out to accompany 100 school children for a whole day. They were asked to note every negative and positive statement or comment that were spoken by these youngsters. Here are the astounding results:

  • The average positive comments spoken were 72 while
  • The average negative comments spoken were 684!

How could this happen?
A very high percentage of the words that surround you and I every day are predominantly negative. The children mentioned above were repeating what they were hearing AND at the same time, they were developing habits.

What kind of habits? Habits of speaking negatively.

Your daily habits are developed by what you think,
what you decide and what you do.

Because of the multitudes of negative words that surround you every day, if you are not making a conscious effort to think, decide and act positively, the habits you are developing will be negative ones.

This means that if you are not making a conscious effort every day to think, speak, decide and act in faith, you will by default be developing a habit of fear.

Mm, could this be true? Yes because the default attitude in this world is fear!

First two steps to take you from fear to faith:

  1. Recognize that your decision to create a faith habit is a decision to enter into a battle.

Why? Because you are deciding to go against the main flow of this world.

  2. Make a firm decision that you WILL fight against all fear and negative words by developing faith habits.
The best way to change a wrong habit is by developing a right one.

Three daily steps to turn fear into faith.

  1. Read and watch good strong motivational and inspirational teachings every day.
  2. Make declarations and affirmations of faith that are targeted at the areas of your life where you discover there is fear.
  3. Make affirmations of faith targeted at your dreams and goals.

Above all – ACT in faith.

Make notes on everything motivational that you read and watch and act on them. Do what you are affirming and declaring.

JillFaith words – faith decisions – faith ACTIONS – create your faith habits.
