28 Aug 2010 Two Top Causes Of Stress

Stressed manI am sure that you are all too familiar with this emotional state that is called stress.

Yet what if I could give you a definition of stress that might just change your understanding completely?

Before I do, let me warn you: you may not like this! But after REALLY thinking about it, I am sure you will come to the conclusion that there is a HUGE amount of truth in this statement.

Stress is the result of knowing what to do and not doing it Larry Winget.
(From his book: Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life).

Sound reasonable?

Well let’s think about it for a moment.
When you know what to do, but because of fear of the opinions of others, fear of the unknown and any other fear you don’t do it, what happens? You have caused a division in your being.

One part of you KNOWS what to do, the other part of you does not do it because of public pressure, fear of man, laziness, fear of finances etc. You are divided. Of course that will cause stress right?

So a stressed out mind is a divided mind!

Here is another thought:
Stress is also often caused by trying to control another person (especially one who won’t be controlled). It can even be because of trying to control a circumstance that is out of your hands. Of course worrying about it is not going to change it right?

Have you ever tried to push or pull an object (like an old fashion piece of solid furniture) that is so heavy it won’t even move?

How did you feel? Your body felt strained and stressed right?

The same thing happens in your emotions when you try to control a person or a circumstance that just won’t move.

So here we have two key words that describe attitudes that I am convinced cause a high percentage of the stress that is in this world today.

What are two of the top causes of stress?

In two simple words: disobedience and control.

Disobedience – ouch! Well if you know what to do and don’t do it, what is that called?

Control – yes all too many folk spend their lives trying to control everything and everyone around them. The cause of this? Insecurity.

So what is the solution to these two causes?
Disobedience - now what would the solution be to that one? Obey right? Just do what you know to do. Don’t allow yourself to be divided. It is your choice AND your responsibility to follow your own conscience – not someone else’s!

Control - the solution? Release! Let those around you live their lives and this will give YOU more time and space to live yours. Sound reasonable? Of course.

Can you control circumstances? Not all of them. Where a circumstance is the result of YOUR choices, yes of course you may be able to change that one.

If it has gone too far, you have learned a lesson and are in a good position to prevent future occurrences right? How?

By your words and your actions.

Remember:
Words (positive words thought and talked)
plus ACTION (that is in agreement with your positive words)
= Success

Live free of stress:
Conquer fear (that stops you from doing what you know to do).
Release others to live their lives, while you live yours.

JillMay you choose to live a stress free life today!

This makes me sick

P.S. I am sure you would enjoy reading some of Larry’s writing as much as I am, so here is one of his ebooks. Take a look right now.

14 Jun 2010 When Anger Is A Good Thing

Angry SeagullCan anger ever be a good thing in yours and my life?

Last week we considered one of the biggest reasons that you and I may become angry.

What was it again?

The only reason that you are angry is
because you are afraid that the situation will happen again. Nancy Matthews.

And that is true when anger is a reaction to a situation in life.

Uncontrolled Anger.
When an explosion of anger happens in your life it is usually because you feel that a situation is out of your control. You feel helpless and of course fear that the situation may repeat itself.

When that happens the anger that you feel is usually a spontaneous reaction. This is the anger that is usually motivated by fear and a sense of helplessness.

But there is also a:

Controlled Anger

Sometimes you NEED to allow yourself to feel anger to
motivate you into action.

When do you NEED to be angry?

When enough is enough.
  • How long are you going to continue allowing certain things to happen in your life? You know that they are happening because of your daily decisions and your daily habits right?

Therefore you CAN change them. How? By changing your daily decisions and your daily habits.

  • How long are you going to put up with people and situations that are stealing your dream?
  • How long are you going to allow yourself to stay in that rut of habits that you KNOW are killing your dreams?
  • How long are you going to allow all of that negative influence to be fed into your mind through your eyes and your ears?
  • How long are you going to put off creating new habits that WILL lead you to fulfilling your life passion and dreams?
Is it time to allow some controlled anger to motivate you to action?

Is there something in your life that you have “been going to change” for a while, but still have not started?

Enough is enough!

Take a look at the seagull at the beginning of this article. He is not too happy, BUT he is ready to take ACTION. (He is about to go after some food).

Are YOU ready to take action?

JillAre you ready to make that change right now and start creating new habits for success?
