We all in some ways would rather like to “hit the jackpot”
and achieve overnight success.

Or would we really? I really wouldn’t. Why not?

There are some very interesting statistics showing that well over 80% of folk who win the big lotteries (the millions of dollar ones) end up broke again after a few short months.

Why does this happen?

Just yesterday I was reading chapter 23 in the book of Exodus in the Bible and once again a very familiar verse jumped out at me. It does not matter how familiar you are with these verses, every time you read them the “old” becomes “new” right?

Exodus 23 is one of the chapters of the Bible where we find Moses relaying God’s instructions to prepare the children of Israel for their move into the promised land. This was the land flowing with milk and honey, where they would have no lack.

A great description of success right?

Take note of the word “prepare”. They needed to be ready to maintain the success and victory that was to be theirs.

In verses 29 and 30 of Exodus chapter 23 God promises:

I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you.

Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land.

Here in the book of Exodus we find the reason that a “lottery millionaire” rarely manages to keep his money.

Why? They were not prepared to handle this “success” They did not yet have the right mindsets or lifestyle to maintain this blessing, so it turned against them.

Extra money in the bank does not
make one a millionaire or even successful.

A friend of our family won a smaller lottery and she confessed that the money became a curse rather than a blessing.

Real success comes little by little. It is the result of daily training in order to create success habits in EVERY area of our lives.

You and I need to develop our minds and lives to be mature and ready to be able to handle success that God wants to give us. That is what the children of Israel needed to do.

So why have you not yet received the blessings you are waiting for? Because you are not ready.
