18 Feb 2010 Fear – What A Joke
 |  Category: Fear  | Tags: , , , ,

Lately I have been thinking (and writing) a lot about fear. Fear really is yours and my number one enemy in life’s journey.

Fear comes in many disguises but it has one main objective and that is to destroy your life. It paralyzes your mind and emotions and stops you from taking action.

When your mind and heart is filled with fear you cannot think clearly. When you cannot think clearly you cannot make correct decisions or any decision at all. Indecision is the result of fear.

Fear sounds like rather a powerful enemy right? It is and yet – it really is not.

Remember fear is faith in reverse or wrongly focused faith.

So how come I entitled this note “Fear – What A Joke”?

I heard a tape (yes it was a cassette tape :) many years ago that has really stood out in my mind.

It was a message by Judson Cornwall (who wrote From the Father’s Heart: A Glimpse of God’s Nature and Ways and many other books)

The part of this message I vividly remember was a story of a vision that Judson saw.

Walk Through This Tunnel.
(This is my version – I remember the main points well – the details are mine)

I was standing in the front of a long dark tunnel when a voice told me to walk through it. But there was a loud roar coming from this tunnel. It was the roar of a lion. No way was I going to walk into that.

But the voice insisted – walk through the tunnel. I resisted frozen with fear. I could not bring myself to step inside into this darkness, even though I always sought to obey the Lord. This voice was the Lord’s voice, I knew that.

Once again the voice spoke with great insistence – go into the tunnel!

Finally I obeyed, still frozen with fear, but my desire to obey was a little stronger than the fear that was engulfing my whole being.

I stepped into the darkness and felt my way through the tunnel with the roars getting louder with every step I took. What was going to happen to me?

JillFinally I reached the end of the tunnel – and all I could say was “Oh my goodness”!!
