23 Feb 2011 Walt Disney’s Top 3 Life Characteristics Can Be Yours Too

Mickey MouseIf there there was an example of a man with a strong life passion (a WHY), it was Walt Disney. Walt was driven by his WHY.

We can see this strongly displayed in three of his top characteristics. These attitudes can be a part of YOUR life too, IF you so choose.

The reason these attributes were so much a part of his life is that he was totally focused on his life passion.

Let’s take a look at this list of the top 3 life characteristics we see in Walt’s life:

1. Enthusiasm.
Walt’s enthusiasm empowered everything he did, and it was contagious. It touched everyone around him and was no doubt one of the reasons why so many of his staff stuck with him for so long.

His enthusiasm enabled him to communicate his vision so his immediate team were motivated to put it into action.

Disney film editor Norman Palmer (“Stormy”) says: Walt’s enthusiasm made over-achievers out of all of us. (quoted from “How To Be Like Walt, by Pat Williams – see below).

2. Imagination
Walt was know to be a man with a very strong, vivid and active imagination. He was always imagining something new.

Even before Disneyland was completed he was already imagining and visualizing Disney World. Sadly he never saw this to completion, but his touch is certainly there.

3. Optimism.
Walt was an “impossible” optimist. He had to be. Because of his optimism we are able to enjoy Disneyland, Disney World, Epcot Center, the movies and so much more that is today a part of the Disney Corporation.

His optimism go him through his darkest hours,
and lead him to his greatest triumphs.

Mickey Mouse himself was born out of one of these dark hours. It was a time of great loss and betrayal. But instead of focusing on his loss, Walt focused on the solution.

The solution to this particular obstacle in his career was to come up with another cartoon character, and he did. It was a mouse! Micky Mouse.

Looking back one could say that this dark hour of Walt’s life was the best thing that had happened to him AND to the world!

If you are presently facing a difficult time in your life, take courage from Walt’s example. Focus on possible solutions not on the darkness and you too will triumph!

What was Walt’s passion in life?

He lived for the next generation. He lived to inspire young hearts and nourish young minds. Walt took this responsibility very seriously and his life and work proved this.

How seriously do you and I take this responsibility? It is definitely one that in some way all of us shoulder.

A question for you:

  • How strong are these three characteristics in your life?

How can you strengthen these three characteristics in your life?
