Today I was watching some excellent teaching videos about video marketing precisely. Then suddenly a comment hit me between the eyes!
Perfectionism is masked laziness, and an excuse not to take action.
Wow! What do you think about that?
Of course if you are not a perfectionist, you may well agree. If you do have tendencies towards perfectionism (as I do), then it you might not be quite so quick to agree
Whenever I come across a new perspective on a subject, I certainly like to give it some thought and even research before either accepting it or tosing it.
Here are some things I was considering today:
Perfectionists can tend to “wait for the perfect moment” before taking action. If this is a life habit, perhaps this could become an unconscious excuse for not taking action?
Perfectionists will often toss a completed project aside because it is not perfect yet and so not suitable for its purpose. Of course then there is the problem of finding the time to come back and perfect it or even do it over. If nothing else, this can lead to a lot of unfinished tasks right?
One thing I have observed is that:
Visionaries usually look at the big picture more than paying attention to the finer details. Consequently they do tend to be action takers.
Perfectionists pay more attention to detail and consequently there are times when this can stop them from taking action.
Taking action is very important. Without that, nothing gets done.
Paying attention to detail is also very important and is often very necessary for safety.
So my conclusion today is one of my life mottos
The key is balance.
I am planning on making sure I take more action – how about you?
What do you need to change to maintain more balance in your life?
