Hi, its great to see you here.
My name is Jill Rapley.
On this blog I share with you some of the key thoughts that I jot down in my learning journal every day. My journal is where I make notes from what I learn from the Bible, from a motivational teaching (audio, video or live), from non fictional books (this year’s goal is to read at least 2 a month) and from life experiences.
This journal is the source of inspiration for all of my writings and teachings.
My notebook goes everywhere I go. I love to write, and almost always have a pencil in my hand. (Yes my preferred writing instrument is a pencil).
Notice, I did not say “I take notes”, but rather “I make notes”. What is the difference?
Taking notes is when you write down exactly what the speaker or text says on something that caught your attention.
Making notes is when you hear or read something that catches your attention and then write it down in your own words. Often when you do this your notes will include a way that you can APPLY what you learned to an area of your life. This is really what real learning is all about.
Real learning is not about accumulating a library of knowledge in your brain. No it is about applying new knowledge to solve a problem, enhance and enrich an area of your life. In short, knowledge and wisdom is no good to you until it becomes a part of YOUR life experience.
I also write down questions, challenges and perplexities that I may be facing.
Inevitably I will find myself writing the answers to these questions (or at least responses) as I make notes during the day.
Sometimes the answers come the same day that the questions arose. Other times they may take longer, but they DO come (not always in the way you expect though).
Sometimes answers to yours and my questions may come in the form of “just keep trusting”.
I trust that you will find many things here that will inspire, motivate, bless and encourage you in your daily journey through this wonderful thing called life.
All the very best,
